If there’re a few more security cameras in our streets, and bureaucrats keeping tabs on our financial records and credit reports and our speech, little matter, because we can sleep that much more easily at night…

The argument could be made that the small-government, more free approach to things isn’t safe. But at least it offers a gaurantee. When you trade your freedom for safety, you tend to lose both. If you trade your safety for freedom, at least you have freedom, and the freedom to ensure your own safety.
