When asked by a young man if he should seek to marry, Socrates answered him:
“By all means marry: if you get a good wife, you will be happy; if you get a bad one, you will become a philosopher.”
The Oracle of Delphi called Socrates 'the wisest man' because he said:
"I know I know nothing!"
Of course, he only knew this because his wife, Xanthippe, told him so.

We totally lost in Iraq (and Vietnam) by withdrawing. And in both cases it was dumb to think a small peace-keeping force could govern an entire country. We could’ve won both of them, but I honestly see little point in wasting resources on foreign countries that aren’t ready for democracy. The middle-east especially doesn’t want freedom so long as freedom includes the ability to choose your own religious views.
