Went to that ‘freedom’ thingy yesterday

And, it was fun!

Met lots of interesting people, heard a lot of interesting things.

Miss Marprelate live-blogged the events.

It turns out that the more ‘liberty-loving’ people are, the less they want to partake of ‘groupthink’….so, trying to ORGANIZE a bunch of ‘liberty-lovers’ into a coherent whole is a less easy job than herding cats….

Herding cats… now that’s an amusing turn of phrase!

But you’re exactly right. People who value their own freedom usually also value yours, too. They want to be left alone to do as they please and, unless you’re being obnoxious right in their faces, they tend to leave you alone to do as you please. Most of them would rather have a root canal than sit through a committee meeting. So the simile for forming these people into a collective would have to be… herding cats into a swimming pool!

In contrast, the people who want everyone to conform to their own neurotic delusions and compulsions, well, they will scheme and plot and organize and legislate without surcease. They won’t sleep until everyone is as miserable as they are. In fact, they can’t sleep because of the crawling fear that someone, somewhere might be having fun…

So it’s not hard to guess which group is winning the lawfare. And why.

The question is, what can be done about it?

    Xanthippa says:

Ah, yes – that IS the questions, isn’t it!

Hey it was great meeting you at the conference!

    Xanthippa says:

Thank you! It was also very nice to meet you, too.

Next time you’re in town, perhaps, I could buy you a tea…
