When asked by a young man if he should seek to marry, Socrates answered him:
“By all means marry: if you get a good wife, you will be happy; if you get a bad one, you will become a philosopher.”
The Oracle of Delphi called Socrates 'the wisest man' because he said:
"I know I know nothing!"
Of course, he only knew this because his wife, Xanthippe, told him so.

I’m happy he makes the divide between liberal and progressive. I am both liberal and conservative. Conservative in the sense of rule-of-law. And liberal in the sense of social freedoms. I’m glad he makes the contrast between the liberalism that encourages free speech and the kind that takes it away.
I’m a John Locke liberal – not a “Social Democrat” kind of liberal.
Xan says: I think that is also often referred to as a ‘classical liberal’.
