EU militarized police force?!?!?

It seems that the EU is worried that nation states which are not bribed into obedience might revolt and try to leave the EU…

…and, should any member state try to leave, and should the national police take the side of the citizens in opposition to the EU dictatorship, the EU has now created a militarized police force that answers to the EU and only to the EU – and can subdue any popularist uprising within its member states:

What Constitutes ‘a Provocation’?

For the past decade or so, it has been drilled into us – and by ‘us’, I mean ‘citizens of Western democracies’ – that drawing any image, no matter how innocent, of the Islamic prophet Muhammed is a taboo.

Verboten.

Not to be done. under any circumstances.

Doing so would constitute ‘a provocation’ – and any response, however unreasonable or disproportionate, by Muslims anywhere on Earth is therefore the fault of the ‘provocateur’.

Case closed.

But, is it?

Is it, really?!?!?

What ever happened to denouncing ‘the hecler’s veto’?  I thought that in a civilized society, each person is responsible for his or her actions – and ‘provocation’ is not an excuse to violence….especially non-violent ‘provocation’.

Yet, for the past ten-or-so-years, we have been conditioned (primarily by the cowardly mainstream media, but also by the way policing has systematically been carried out) to blame the person who is exercising their constitutionally guaranteed rights and freedoms for ‘causing a disturbance’ or ‘disturbing public peace’ when people react violently to them.

This is as upside down as it can get:  yet, we have become so conditioned to this situation that we  no longer question it.

At this point, drawing any picture – caricature or flattering – of the Islamic prophet Muhammed is seen to be ‘beyond the pale’ and anyone who dares to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech with regards to him is seen as the villain in any violent reaction to this lawful action.

Sad, but true.  Very true.

The media spin is predictable:  ‘they have a right to…, but…’

Meaning:  ‘Yeah, they did something lawful that provoked other people to break the law, so it’s their own fault they got killed….’

So, the billion-dollar-question is:  what constitutes such a provocation?!?!?

Holding a ‘Draw Muhammed Day event’ is one – as I learned on the 19th of May, 2015.

Holding an ‘equal opportunity blasphemy day’ is another, as I learned on the 19th of June, 2015.

So, what about yoga?  Nobody can consider a bunch of people ‘stretching’ to be a provocation, right?

Well, not so fast…

June 21st, 2015, was UN’s ‘international Yoga Day’!

People all over the world got together in unbelievably unflattering outfits to stretch and grunt and look silly – while feeling like they ‘mattered’.  Simple fodder for humour, right?

Not so fast!!!

This ‘government imposed’ yoga day was a clear provocation against Muslims worldwide!

Bowing to the sun!!!

Heathens!

Polytheists!!!

Undermining the one-ness of Allah!!!

Plus it is a clear imposition of the Hindu agenda on Muslims worldwide!!!

D-ugh!!!!

At least, that is what the Muslims are saying.

Which leaves me wondering:  for the past bunch of years, people have happily exercised yoga on the front lawn of Parliament Hill.

How long before the Islamists among us refuse to accept such a provocation and take violent means to stop such a blasphemous thing happening at the seat of Canada’s government?!?!?

How long before Islamist dress codes become mandatory on the Parliament Hill so as not to pose a ‘provocation’ to the Islamists in our midst?

It is not as far fetched as I hope it would be….

Changing Campus “Incivility” Policies: Q&A with Caitlin Grimes

Raif Badawi, Saudi Arabia and the corruption that is UN

Frequent readers of my blog know that I have a strong opinion on the United Nations:  FIRE THEM ALL!!!

Un-elected, un-accountable, corrupt and arrogant beyond belief.

Frequent readers of my blog will also know that I was one of the first Western voices raising alarm over the horrific and unconscionable – frankly, inhuman – treatment Raif Badawi, the Saudi Liberal, had suffered simply for creating and running a website.

The fact remains that the corrupt and tyrannical theocracy that is Saudi Arabia has no business being accepted as an equal member in organizations that pretend to be a platform for civilized countries.

I mean – just try driving a car in SA while female!

Or sitting in a cafe without your owner (wali)!

Or being a 75-year-old widow and letting your nephew bring you bread…

Yeah…

Saudi Arabia is not exactly the bastion of ‘human rights’.

After much international outcry on behalf of Raif Badawi, he was permitted to appeal his sentence of 1000 lashes (that’s flogging, no ‘falsies’ here) and 5 years in prison just because his blogging ran afoul of the religious police and their fancy fetishes.

It is important to note that Raif is to be flogged in many instalments, because 1000 lashes at oncewould, effectively, remove the skin from the back part of his body and kill him long before the punishment could be carry out in full – which, of course, would spoil the whole ‘fun’.

So, instead, the punishment is given a bit at a time, giving the man time to at least partially heal and recover from it before the next instalment of torture.  This both extends the physical suffering and creates incredible psychological torture as one is awaiting the next torture session.

Of course, any ‘healing break’ is too short to allow complete healing.  This will lead to a progressively weaker and more sick Badawi at each ‘session’ – ensuring he will, eventually (but not too soon) die of his flogging.

The only good bit in this story is that his wife and babies are now safely in Canada – and I wish them all the best!

And, enough people have volunteered to take Raif’s place in each instalment of the floggings that, had the Saudis accepted the swap, he would be safe.  At least there is some moral support in knowing that people were willing to put their hides on the line for him!

So, no sooner had the Saudi courts ruled and upheld the 1000 lashes and 10 years in jail (upped from 5 by an in-between court, I presume) than…

…and I kid you not…

…than the UN, in its wisdom, decided to host a summit on Human Rights IN SAUDI ARABIA!!!

Please, please, PLEASE!!!

Contact your political masters and beg them to get out of the cesspool of corruption that is the UN!

Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press and Tianamen Square 1989

This iconic image was not taken on the 4th of June – the date of the massacres (and, yes, I do mean plural:  Beijing was not the only city with these pro-freedom of speech protests).  It was taken on the 5th of June – the day after…

Which only makes ‘the tank man’ that much more important – that much more heroic!!!

So, what are the most common misconceptions?

And an eyewitness account:

Political Correctness: mind-shackles from within

Last year, at the 1st annual Essentials of Freedom conference, I spoke about the difference between speech limits being imposed from the outside of oneself versus from within oneself:  I used the examples of my childhood in behind-the-iron-curtain Czechoslovakia (limits imposed from the outside) versus living in present-day Canada (limits imposed from within by political correctness).

This is why I found it particularly interesting to listen to the former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Klaus, making the same point!

He also used the example of the pre-velvet-revolution Czechoslovakia, but he contrasted it with the modern Czech Republic…sad, so sad…but an interesting speech nonetheless!

OK – at this point, we don’t know the identity of the murderers, but, does anyone seriously think this is anything other than jihad?

Guest Post by BeaverMoose: ‘Charlie Hebdo’ march in Toronto January 11, 2015

This is a guest post by BeaverMoose:

Attendance wasn’t bad at Toronto’s ‘Charlie Hebdo March’ that started at  New City Hall at 2 pm on Sunday, January 11, 2015:  there were slightly more than 2,000 people in the crowd, about ten percent of the Montreal march’s turnout of 25,000 held the same day.

A marcher explained to me, ‘That’s understandable that Montreal had more attendance. They read Charlie Hebdo and identify more with Paris than Toronto does.’

On short notice, 2,000 wasn’t bad for a march organized in Toronto concerned about free speech in France.  I happened to see a notice about the march on TV and showed up to find about 2,000 people with king-sized, hand-made cardboard ‘pencils’, French, Iranian and Ukrainian flags, a hundred ‘je suis Charlie’ posters.  Many held up home-written posters and slogans in different languages, Dutch, Danish, Iranian and English.

About fifty expat Iranians held large ‘je suis Charlie’ signs in written in French and Arabic script, along with free speech detainees persecuted in Iran.  They described how no freedom of expression whatever is allowed in Islamic Iran.

A Dutchman wearing wooden shoes marched next to a Frenchman holding a hockey stick with a French flag on it.

A woman with a paint brush agreed that artists seem to understand the critical importance of free expression more than people in other lines of work.  ‘As early as I remember,’ she admitted, ‘I was getting in trouble for drawing caricatures, usually of my teachers.’

Another person chimed in: ‘Artists have to maintain a ‘screw-you’ attitude – otherwise, they can’t be much of an artist.’

I agreed.

After speeches about freedom at Toronto’s New City Hall were finished, the crowd marched half a kilometre to Dundas Square, up Toronto’s main street, while chanting ‘Charlie…Charlie…’ and ‘liberté…d’expression’.

Muslims on the street averted their gaze, while a seller of ‘halal’ poutine looked on nervously while muttering prayers to seek refuge from those who were demanding free speech.

There was also a man who wore a sign on his hat that said, ‘I am a Muslim but I am human first.’

I walked up to him and smiled before asking his point of view. He said he doesn’t agree with terrorism. I asked him:  ‘Do you think I am a kafir? ‘ (i.e. a troublesome disbeliever) ‘No, you must do something bad to be a kafir,’ he responded.

Were the Charlie Hebdo artists kafirs? ‘No, I do not think so,’ he said.

Did he disagree with Sharia law about blasphemy? ‘I do not think we should kill people who write something.’

‘But,’ I said, ‘If you do not follow Sharia law, you have left Islam…can you convince the mullahs at Al Azhar University that you are right and they are wrong?’  He replied, ‘No, I do not think I can do that.’  In other words, nice Muslims like this man, realize he cannot change Islamic law.
The Toronto ‘Charlie Hebdo’ march was attended by people who understand that freedom is not free.

Unfortunately, freedom isn’t secure once for all when there are Islamic terrorists who are trying so hard to take it away. I really thought that after the attack on our national Parliament Buildings, Toronto would have had more marchers.  Canadians will need to see they are the ones who must pay for our freedom by getting out of their comfortable chairs and marching for it. Our battle is against those who claim their right not to be criticized is more important than our right to speak out against misogyny and supremacism.

This is my moment to speak to those who did not attend. Canadians, it’s YOUR freedom we marched for today. How important is freedom to you? What has to happen to us Canadians before we realize how precious our freedom is?  Let’s not wait until something worse happens.

So let’s keep marching for freedom (more next time, please).  The Islamic terrorists won’t stop their marching, their bombing and their shooting until they realize that we love freedom more than they love death!

They won’t stop until they realize their actions are completely futile. Rather than give in to them, we have to rally against them and tell our politicians ‘OUR FREEDOM IS NOT NEGOTIABLE!!!’
