“Animal rights come before religion”

Finally, somebody really, really gets it!

Just because somebody believes in an ancient myth does not give them the right to torture animals in the name of that silly myth!

And now, Denmark has banned the religious exemption for Halal and Kosher slaughterers not to adhere to humane slaughtering practices.

Yes!

Yes!!!

YES!!!

From Time.com:

‘The ban, which requires slaughterhouse workers to stun animals before killing them, will now extend to religious communities that were previously afforded an exemption. “Animal rights come before religion,” Danish minister for agriculture and food Dan Jørgensen told Denmark’s TV2.’

Finally, one place where common sense and human compassion wins out over irrational beliefs!

Dear Campbell’s Company Canada:

UPDATED BELOW!!!!

The following is a comment I have just submitted at the Campbell’s Company Canada’s contact page – if/when I get a response, I will be sure to post it here:

Hello Campbell’s!

I have always enjoyed your soups, especially Cream of Mushroom. I love cooking and used it a lot.

However, the last time I went to purchase it, I noticed that it had a ‘Halal’ certification marker on it. I am not sure if you are aware of this, but Christian and Sikh teachings strictly forbid the consumption of Halal food. Some of my Hindu friends also avoid it, because of Halal’s meat connotation of animal cruelty.

Sikh religion forbids Halal food explicitly.

Christian religion, in both the Old and New Testament, forbids the consumption of food that had been prayed over/sanctified to any religion/god other than its own. Since ‘Halal’ means ‘having been made ritualistically pure in the eyes of Allah’, that makes ‘Halal’ food sanctified to a non-Christian religion and thus forbidden for observant Christians to consume. As more Christians are becoming familiar with what it means for food to be Halal, more of them are becoming aware that it is indeed forbidden for them to consume it.

On the other hand, Sharia rules that in non-Muslim land, the consumption of Halal food is not compulsory, only recommended when easily available: ‘If no transgression is intended, then none is incurred, for Allah is merciful’.

As mine is a very inclusive home and I love cooking for my friends from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, I cannot, in good conscience, purchase Halal food and serve it to people for whom it may be religiously forbidden. Therefore, it will be more culturally sensitive for me to shy away from purchasing your brand of products from now on.

It saddens me greatly that I will not be able to include your products in my household in the future. If, however, you re-introduce your soups without Halal certification, please, do let me know and I will be very glad to become your customer once again.

Sincerely yours,

Alexandra Belaire

UPDATE:  Here are some additional comments submitted to Campbell’s:

Hello Campbell’s,

I have long been a Campbell’s soup fan.

But I have just noticed that you are doing Halal certification. As an animal lover, and supporter of the humane slaughter of animals, this means that I can no longer buy your products.

Please watch the Halal slaughter of animals. Animals that have been Halal slaughtered show high levels of stress hormones – unlike, for example, animals that have been slaughtered to be kosher. The traditional slaughterhouse methods are bad enough – Halal is far worse. Again, please watch.

Then, there are also religious reasons not to do Halal certification, as this is against Christian doctrine, and also other religious doctrines. I don’t know why you are doing something that is against Christian doctrine, but conforms to Muslim doctrine. Please let me know.

A friend who is more versed in religion has put together the following:

Christian and Sikh teachings strictly forbid the consumption of Halal food. Some of my Hindu friends also avoid it, because of Halal’s meat connotation of animal cruelty.

And:

Dear Public Relations,
I disagree with buying anything that is ‘halal’.  Firstly, halal is cruelty to animals and standards of hygiene are less. Secondly, part of the money paid for halal supports supremacism and misogyny.
For those reasons, I will not purchase any halal product ever and will encourage all my family and friends not to buy them as well.
I hope Campbell’s will abandon their support for misogynistic totalitarianism immediately.
Cordially,

People are not the only ones suffering needlessly in Gaza

While Pallywood has excellent skills in staging grievance-mongering videos, the people of Gaza truly are suffering.  The violence Hamas – a Muslim Brotherhood organization – has inflicted on any Palestinians opposed to its thuggish rule have been victimized, systematically marginalized and even murdered.

And, of course, the schools that they send their children to – the schools we, Westerners, pay for through the UN, brainwash the next generation, ensuring the continuance of the conflict so deeply trenched in religious dogma, no secular process can ever solve it.

For the record:  those familiar with the history of the region will know that the land originally granted for the creation of the new state of Israel had, in fact, been divided into an ‘Arab (Palestinian)’ section and the rest of Israel.  So, the ‘two state solution’ is, in fact, in place already.   The ‘Arab (Palestinian)’ section became known as the kingdom of Jordan.

While the Jews from that area moved to the new, much smaller state of Israel, the combination of the Arab’s resistance to move to Jordan and Jordan’s resistance to accept them is the true cause of the displacement of the now called ‘Palestinians’

But, horrendous and unforgivable as it is, the human suffering in Gaza is not the subject this post.  Let’s just stipulate that it exists and hope that the international community (led by the UN) will soon wake up and stop funding Hamas and other oppressors of the Palestinian people and that one day soon, Palestinian children will live in a world where they can freely choose their own religion, without fear of marginalization, injury or death!

And, yes, there have, over the years, surfaced stories of the atrocious treatment of zoo animals in Gaza.  But, this post is not about them, either.  It’s not that they are not important, but they are visible and their fate has been brought to the world’s attention already.

This post is about many, many more animals:  the food animals imported into Gaza.

I must admit, I did not dare to watch the video at this link – but, reading the article, I knew I had to help spread the word about what is happening!

‘The Opposition says footage that appears to show Australian cattle being beaten, stabbed and dragged in Gaza may warrant a suspension of trade licences.’

‘”I think anyone who watches this footage and sees images of Australian cattle being stabbed in the eye, having their throats slit while still alive and being taunted and tortured would understand that now is the time to end the live export trade,” he [Greens MP Adam Bandt] said.’

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:  Halal slaughter must be banned and Halal-slaughtered-meat must be banned from sale in all civilized countries!!!

For those of you who think this will infringe on the right to freedom of religion of Muslims – it will not.  Islam, in its wisdom, teaches that if halal food is not available in the country in which a Muslim resides, it is permissible for the Muslim to eat non-halal food.  If no transgression is intended, then none has happened!

Thus, halal food is not a requirement for Muslims and banning this horrible, torturous treatment of animals does not infringe on any religious freedom – even if such an infringement were a ground on which to permit unnecessary animal suffering.

Wherever you live – please, let your supermarket and your butcher know that you object to halal meat being sold by them.  Contact any food manufacturers who display a halal mark on their product and inform them why you will boycott their products in the future!

Market pressure is the best way to stop this unnecessary animal suffering. Because the question is not ‘Can they think?’ but ‘Can they feel pain?’

Necrophilia is halal!

Next time you consume food, make sure it has not been ‘halal slaughtered’ or ‘halal certified’ anywhere along the way – it is not always labelled as such.  Not only have the halal certification bodies been caught funding terrorism, we now have another reason to distrust everything which is labelled halal:  necrophilia is also halal.

Fine category.

It seems that now that Egypt has gone to the Muslim Brotherhood and become Islamist, its laws are becoming more and more in line with Sharia.  Apparently, that is why husbands will be permitted sexual intercourse with their wives, whether their wives are alive or dead!

Just say no to ‘halal’!!!

Halal Meat Certification Funds Islamic Terrorists

There is a simple thing each and every one of us can do:  whenever we purchase meat or meat products or meals that contain meat, we should ask the seller to certify that this meat was never halal-slaughtered.

If they cannot, don’t buy it.

It may be a little bit of an inconvenience to us, but, you can rest assured that the merchants will supply what customers are asking for.  Unless there are more people asking for meat which is certified to be non-halal-slaughtered than people asking for halal-certified meat, the meat in stores and restaurant will surely become mostly halal-slaughtered.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease…so, let’s start squeaking!
